Lecture Review|A Complete Guide to Hong Kong and Singapore Study Abroad Planning

Times:2025-10-15

On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the second session of the “Undergraduate Academic & Career Enhancement Planning” lecture series, co-hosted by Daxia College of ECNU and Golden Education, was successfully held.

Following the previous session on studying in the UK and Australia, this lecture focused on Hong Kong and Singapore, two of the most popular destinations for further studies. The event featured Mr. Wu Jiadi, a senior study-abroad consultant from Golden Education with extensive experience in international education. He provided students with practical insights and strategic guidance for pursuing postgraduate studies in these regions, helping them better navigate their academic pathways.

Mr. Wu began by introducing the higher education landscape in Hong Kong, highlighting its distinctive advantages and international appeal. Using specific universities as examples, he illustrated the core value of studying in Hong Kong, enabling students to gain a more intuitive and concrete understanding.

He then offered an in-depth analysis of Finance and Artificial Intelligence programs, referencing real application cases. By comparing requirements across institutions—including GPA, language proficiency, internships, and research experience—he emphasized the importance of business-related internships in enhancing one’s competitiveness. Mr. Wu also addressed common concerns about early application rounds, language test results, and internship certificates, helping students bridge information gaps, understand application challenges, and clarify their preparation priorities.

In the Singapore study segment, Mr. Wu discussed the country’s advantages in geographical location, safety, and economic efficiency. Using the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as examples, he explained tuition structures and government subsidy programs, guiding students in financial planning and cost management.

Comparing Hong Kong and Singapore, Mr. Wu analyzed the cost-benefit ratio across business, science and engineering, and humanities disciplines, extending the discussion to employment prospects and long-term career planning. He concluded with an easy-to-follow difficulty rating chart, summarizing key factors such as academic standards, soft-skill expectations, and timing sensitivity—providing students with a clear reference for their study plans.

Throughout the lecture, students listened attentively and took detailed notes. Many remarked that the event helped them clarify their future directions and make more informed study-abroad decisions.
