Tea Aroma as a Bridge, Youth as a Rhythm | Gather at the 30th International Tea Party, Toast the World with a Cup of Chinese Tea

Times:2025-10-17

On the afternoon of September 21, the 30th International Tea Party was held at Yan'an Hotel. Daxia College recruited more than 30 Chinese and international students to attend the event, where they experienced the excellent traditional Chinese culture and conducted cross-cultural exchanges. Wang Liyv, Vice Dean of Daxia College; Yv Bei, Teacher from the College of International Chinese Language and Culture; Cheng Haixia, Administrative Executive of Daxia College; and Wang Chun, Counselor of Daxia College, led the team. Teachers and students savored the elegant charm of the East amid the lingering tea aroma, and wove a chapter of friendship through cheerful conversations.

Part 01: Appreciation of Chinese Tea Ceremony Culture

The replicated craftsmanship of tea brewing in the Tang Dynasty showcased the ancient charm of the tea ceremony. Every step—from roasting tea leaves and grinding them into powder to boiling the tea and enhancing its aroma—was not only a display of skills but also a dialogue across time and space. It rekindled the tea aroma of a thousand years ago and vividly interpreted the profound and long-standing heritage of Chinese tea culture.

In the demonstration session, young people talked about the development and future of the tea ceremony, integrating it with modern concepts such as the metaverse. With tea culture as a bridge, they completed a cross-millennium dialogue across time and space, injecting vivid vitality into the ancient tea culture.

Part 02: Cross-Cultural Exchange

At the roundtable forum, international friends from different countries connected Chinese tea culture with their own cultural backgrounds and shared their perspectives on Chinese tea culture. Different viewpoints collided and merged at this moment, and the wonderful dialogue centered on "tea" fully demonstrated the profound connotation of cultural mutual learning.

The intangible cultural heritage performance of the long-spouted teapot brought the event to a climax. Through steady steps and precise control, the tea artist poured tea from the long-spouted teapot into cups smoothly, accompanied by dance movements that combined hardness and softness. Their skilled techniques amazed Chinese and foreign teachers and students present. This intangible cultural heritage skill not only showed the profound heritage of Chinese tea culture but also became a cultural bridge connecting Chinese and foreign audiences with its language-transcending beauty of movements.

In the exchange session, young people were attracted by the wide range of tea leaves, tea sets, and delicacies in the venue. They tasted fragrant tea, admired elegant tea sets, and tried tea-based foods. During the conversations, they felt the profound charm of the excellent traditional culture communicating and integrating with the world.

Part 03: Feedback from Participants

01 Li Yulu, Undergraduate Student of Grade 2025, School of Psychology and Cognitive Science

What impressed me most at the event were the performers of the dignified and elegant Tang Dynasty tea-brewing culture on the stage, the mellow and sweet tea served by the staff, and the cultural integration shared by students from different countries at the roundtable. When students from different countries jointly shouted "Toast the world with a cup of Chinese tea", it not only showed the unique charm of Chinese tea culture but also reflected the true connection and exchange between cultures behind "making friends through tea".

02 Ling Weihang, Undergraduate Student of Grade 2025, School of Design

This tea event was indeed a cultural feast with tea as a bridge. At the event, we learned knowledge about tea culture, tasted various kinds of good tea, and experienced the charm of tea culture together with international friends. I truly felt that Chinese tea culture is quietly going global and developing more vigorously. This cross-millennium cultural journey not only allowed me to learn a lot of knowledge but also made me more confident in the long-standing and profound excellent traditional Chinese culture.

03 Kim Kyung-eun (South Korea), Undergraduate Student of Grade 2022, College of International Chinese Language and Culture

Today's event helped us understand Chinese tea culture better. I particularly liked the Tang Dynasty tea-brewing performance, because we got to see the steps of how ancient people made tea—it looked so beautiful, and the performers were lovely too. At the venue, I also tried many delicacies made with tea leaves, and they were all delicious. I hope I will have the chance to participate in such events again or try brewing tea myself next time.

04 Aimi Nakane (Japan),Undergraduate Student of Grade 2022, College of International Chinese Language and Culture

I was very happy to participate in this event and received many interesting gifts, such as small tea seedlings. I will take good care of it when I go back, because placing it in my room can freshen the air. Thank you to my Chinese friends.
