"Heart-to-Heart by the Hearth" Freshmen Tea Party
Professor Pang Weiguo from the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, Dean of Daxia College, celebrated the festival with the students. He shared with them how to spend college life meaningfully and supported their career development. Pang reminded the students that after leaving their familiar hometowns and entering the new environment of the university, they have gained more "significant others" around them, which are precious treasures in their life journey. "Significant others" include family members, teachers, classmates, friends, dormitory aunts, etc., forming their social support system. Students should not only maintain contact with their existing "significant others" but also actively embrace the new collective, make more friends, and quickly adapt to college life.
At the same time, Pang introduced the curriculum system of Daxia College to the students. Through eight major curriculum modules, the college helps students get through the critical development period of their first year as undergraduate freshmen, lay a solid foundation for excellent growth, and prepare for transcending their own limitations and achieving free and all-round development.
During the communication session, Professor Pang answered many questions from freshmen about college study and life, including views on the future development trend of artificial intelligence, adjustment of learning attitudes and methods for college disciplines, etc. He solved doubts for the students and further strengthened their confidence in embracing college life.
"Chinese Flower Arrangement Craft"
Under the guidance of Teacher Liu Yan, a national senior flower arrangement artist from the university library, the students experienced Chinese flower arrangement art and turned bouquets of flowers into unique works of art. The fragrance of the flowers blended with the joyful night, weaving a beautiful memory.
"Fan Crafting with Lacquer Ingenuity"
At the "Fan Crafting with Lacquer Ingenuity" booth, students chose their favorite colors and made beautiful lacquer fans by themselves. Each fan surface was like a painting, and the creation with water and lacquer brought unexpected surprises to the students.
"Skillful Lantern Making"
Lantern making is not only a sincere tribute to the traditional decorations of the Mid-Autumn Festival but also a pursuit and creation of beauty. The students experienced the charm of traditional culture through hands-on practice.
"Ancient Pot-Throwing Game" at the Mid-Autumn Garden Tour
Every throw embodied careful calculation and unremitting attempts. With the sound of the arrows falling into the pot, which was clear and melodious, one good result after another was achieved, stirring the hearts of every participant on the scene. Everyone became more focused, looking forward to more remarkable achievements together, allowing this ancient tradition with a history of thousands of years to glow with new vitality and vigor amid laughter and joy.
"Interesting Lantern Riddle Guessing"
The students used their wisdom and talents, which not only improved their thinking ability but also experienced the joy and sense of accomplishment when solving the riddles.
"Elegant Ancient Guqin Performance"
The students enjoyed the graceful sound of the guqin together and experienced the elegant beauty of traditional Chinese culture and traditional musical instruments.
In addition, the garden tour also arranged sachet making, and the beauty of labor was reflected in every stitch and thread. The School of Psychology and Cognitive Science specially supported the "Stress-Relieving Cotton Candy" project, and the cotton candy made by the students themselves was especially sweet.
After collecting stamps at the garden tour, the students happily received customized mooncakes full of the school's blessings and care.

For me who was born and raised in Guangdong, this is the first time I have spent the Mid-Autumn Festival so far away from home, and it is also the first truly relaxing Mid-Autumn Festival holiday after the college entrance examination. The event held by Daxia College is also the first time in my life that I have spent such a ceremonial Mid-Autumn Festival with so many people. Activities like pot-throwing, listening to the guqin, making lanterns, making fans, and making cotton candy are all my first experiences. It feels very different from every previous Mid-Autumn Festival, and I feel very lucky to have such a beautiful and fulfilling experience.
The "Heart-to-Heart by the Hearth" session, where we sat together eating snacks and chatting, made me feel very relaxed. The speech session by Dean Pang also made me gain a lot. The students' enthusiastic raising of hands during the Q&A session was beyond my expectation, and I felt very happy to be with such a group of people.

Participating in the "Heart-to-Heart by the Hearth" Mid-Autumn activity of Daxia College is not only a celebration of the festival for me but also a spiritual baptism and an opportunity for growth. Under the warm lights, I seemed to be in a big family full of love and care, feeling the warmth all around.
In the communication with my classmates, I heard all kinds of dreams and stories—those about the pursuit of academics, the love for life, and the longing for the future. All of these inspired me deeply. I realized that everyone is unique and has their own light and strength. This realization made me cherish everyone around me more and strengthened my determination to move forward.
Moreover, the dean's kind care and profound insights benefited me a lot. His words were like a beacon, illuminating my path forward and igniting my inner desire for knowledge and yearning for the future. I felt the responsibility and mission as a student majoring in computer science and technology, and I also understood how to write my wonderful story on the broad stage of the university.
Looking back on this activity, I deeply felt the warmth and strength like at home. I believe that in the days to come, this warmth and strength will always be with me, inspiring me to keep moving forward, exploring, and surpassing myself. At the same time, I also look forward to continuing to work hand in hand with my classmates, growing together, and adding more glory to Daxia College in my future study and life.
