On March 27th, the first session of the VOICE Chinese-Foreign Student Bilingual Corner, co-hosted by the International Education Center and Daxia College, was successfully held at the International Student Center on the 4th floor of the Physics Building. Thirty Chinese and international students attended the event and shared their stories around the theme of "Studying at ECNU - Pursuing Academic Goals".

Ice Breaking: My Connection with ECNU
As the saying goes, "Separated as we are thousands of miles apart, we come together as if by predestination." The students present came from all over the world and gathered here. After the host shared his own bond with ECNU, participants told their story of coming to the bank of the Liwa River: Some were captivated by Shanghai's inclusiveness and innovation, some appreciated the strong international atmosphere of ECNU, and some held the ambition of teaching and educating people...

Group Discussion: Experiences of Studying at ECNU
Next, the students formed groups to share their experiences of studying at ECNU with each other. A Russian student majoring in Interpretation shared the biggest challenge he faced: "After coming to China, I realized that the Chinese I have learned is far from enough." A Thai student said, "Coming to China alone, I sometimes feel homesick. But ECNU has prepared many interesting activities for us international students, which makes me feel at home."

Outcome Presentation: Sharing Future Plans
Coming to ECNU is the first step towards the future and will also be the starting point for excellence. In the future, how will everyone embrace excellence in their youth? After brief discussions, each group chose a representative to share their future plans and prospects. A Russian student majoring in TCSL said, "I may return to Russia to teach Chinese there." A Chinese student majoring in Computer Science said, "I hope I can work in a state-owned enterprise." A Thai student who is studying Chinese language said, "After finishing my language studies, I want to pursue a master's degree in China." No matter what choices they make, we believe that these ECNUers will have a bright future.

In this bilingual corner activity, students from different countries overcame language barriers, broadened their horizons and made new friends through communication and interaction, jointly creating a picture of cultural integration. Let's look forward to the next activity!
